The Hanse Office
This year we mark the 25th anniversary of the Hanse-Office, which was inaugurated on 7 January 1985 as the first regional office in Brussels.
As a common institution of the federal states Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg the Hanse-Officesuccessfully represents the interests of both states towards the European Union and the European institutions since 1987.
One of our tasks to inform at an early stage about European policies, legislation and funding programmes. At the same time, we present the diversity of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein with events, meetings and cultural presentations in Brussels.
The Hanse-Office ´s mission is representing the interests and position of both federal states towards the European Union. This includes especially establishing contacts to the bodies and institutions of the European Union and other institutions at European level, gathering and preparing information, which allow an early and broad respresentation of interests, supporting initiatives from the federal states, providing support when applying for funding from EU-programmes and supporting the promotion of our regions as economic locations. Moreover we broadly inform the departments in charge of coordinating the EU policies of the governments of Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg, if not only the interest of one state is affected.
