The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is an advisory body of the EU that ensures local and regional authorities in the European Union have a formal right to have a say in decision-making in Europe. The Committee’s main task is to critically assess proposed legislation that affects regions and cities.

The political assembly comprises 350 locally or regionally elected representatives (organised by political groups and headed by a President) from all 27 EU Member States. The mandates issued are limited to five years, and the number of members in a national delegation is proportional to each country’s population.
