As part of the state government, the Senate Chancellery of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg has the status of a supreme state authority. It is subordinate to the First Mayor and President of the Senate. The Senate Chancellery is divided into the Office of State, the Press Office, the Office for IT and Digitalization, and the Planning Staff with the Senate Secretariat. As part of the EU Affairs Department, the Hanse-Office in Brussels belongs to the Office of State and thus – like the Hamburg State Representation in Berlin – to the Hamburg Senate Chancellery.
